Rick ("R.J.") has been involved in microgrid design since the days following Hurricane Sandy, beginning with a project in the hard-hit state of Connecticut. Rick and his firm have been collaborating with the HyPer Lab at the National Energy Technology Lab (NETL), working on the commercialization of the Hydrogen Hybrid Microgrid (HHM), the prototype of which is being built at the NETL Lab. Also, recognizing the need for site planning and workforce training, Rick is developing the Hydrogen-to-Power (H2PWR) Toolkit, critical for the siting of the HHM and its successful integration into the local distribution system.
