Joel Cohn is a partner in CohnReznick’s Project Finance & Consulting Group. For over 25 years he has provided transaction structuring advice and technical services to sponsors of various tax credit projects including, among others, renewable energy projects. His broad experience in raising tax equity brings to bear solutions where business goals and tax rules would appear to conflict.

Joel often works with renewable energy clients throughout the tax equity syndication process, often at its earliest stages. He advises clients on optimizing the transaction structure such that it aligns with the client goals. He assists with term sheet review and benchmarking deal points to current industry pricing. He also helps with document review and interpretation, where certain phrasing can have financial implications far beyond their appearance. With the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, Joel as been advising clients on its interpretation and application to their projects. Joel has contributed policy advice to working groups across the country, advising on both federal and state tax credit law. He has worked on solar, onshore and offshore wind, hydropower, biomass, hydrogen and fuel cell projects
