Taiwo Alo is an accomplished professional, currently serving as the Director of PHI Capacity Planning, Smart Grid, and Innovation. In this pivotal role, Taiwo leads a dynamic team dedicated to devising and executing strategies that pave the way for the transformation of PHI companies' distribution grid into a cutting-edge, forward-looking system. Their approach involves the proactive evaluation and integration of emerging technologies through visible demonstrations and pilot programs. The ultimate aim is to offer PHI's valued customers an array of new benefits while upholding and enhancing the grid's reliability and efficiency. Prior to his current role, Taiwo Alo served as the Senior Manager of the PEPCO Operations Control Center. In this capacity, he skillfully helmed a team responsible for the dependable operation of the distribution grid that serves our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., and select areas of Maryland. Taiwo brings a wealth of experience to his leadership roles, with a distinguished 12-year tenure at BGE. His diverse roles at BGE included overseeing the Transmission Engineering Design & Standards unit, where he led a team in designing and engineering the expansion and fortification of the Transmission system. He also played a pivotal role in establishing a culture of Human Performance within the organization while leading the Performance Assessment Group. Additionally, Taiwo excelled as a leader in the Distribution Planning organization, where he spearheaded the planning efforts for the North East Territory of the BGE service area.
Beyond his professional achievements, Taiwo is actively engaged in his community. He serves as a board member for Maryland New Direction and generously volunteers his time at the Ronald McDonald House. Taiwo is also a distinguished member of several professional organizations, including the Power Engineering Society – IEEE, the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), and the Exelon African American Resource Alliance (EAARA).
Taiwo's academic background is equally impressive, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland. He holds certifications as a Project Manager and is licensed as a Professional Engineer in both the District of Columbia and Maryland. Taiwo's dedication and excellence have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Errol B. Davis "Black Engineer of the Year Award" for his outstanding professional achievements in 2018. In 2022, he proudly graduated from the Leadership Premiere Howard County program.
Outside of his professional and community commitments, Taiwo treasures his role as a devoted family man. He is happily married to his spouse, Bisi, and cherishes quality time with his two children, Timi and Tara, aged 10 and 7. In the rare moments of leisure he finds, Taiwo enjoys immersing himself in books, pursuing his passion for golf, and maintaining his dedication to physical fitness.
