As chief energy officer oversees Kaiser Permanente’s energy and water strategy, which focuses on efficiency, resiliency and pursuing green power opportunities to reduce operating costs and greenhouse gas emissions. He collaborates with stakeholders throughout Kaiser Permanente to reduce energy intensity, utility costs, and the company’s carbon footprint. As a result of his efforts, in 2020 KP was certified as carbon neutral in accordance with the Carbon Neutral Protocol. Ramé joined Kaiser Permanente in 2011 after 29 years in the U.S. Navy, where his career culminated as Commanding Officer of Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington D.C. He has broad facilities management experience, leading efforts to plan, build, and operate facilities and infrastructure around the world, having managed programs in Japan, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and throughout the U.S. Ramé holds a Master of Science degree in construction management from the University of California, Berkeley; a Master of Science degree in national security strategy from the National War College; and a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Tulane University. He has also completed the executive management programs at the University of Virginia Darden Business School and Harvard University Business School. He is a professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a certified PMI Program Management Professional, an AEE Certified Energy Manager and a member of the University of California Office of the President Global Climate Leadership Council.
