Jamie Schnick P.E. – Has worked on Health Care projects for over 30 years. As a consultant in private industry, he provided Electrical Engineering design services for some of the premier Health Care projects in Southern California. For the last 5 years he has worked for the state of California’s Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) as a Senior Electrical Engineer, most recently, in the Building Standards Unit. In this role Jamie develops and maintains administrative regulations and building standards for Health Care Facilities in the state of California. He also serves as the technical lead for the electrical discipline at HCAI. Jamie is a member of the Hospital Building Safety Board Energy Conservation and Management and the Technology and Research Committees that maintain close contact with professional groups and important industry organizations to bring attention to changes and emerging technologies being used in the design and construction of Health Care Facilities in CA. Jamie was the author of the Codes and Standards content in the HCAI 2021 “Microgrids for Healthcare Facilities” white paper and participates in focus groups for the continuous improvement of content in both NFPA 99 and NFPA 70. Jamie is a committee member for NFPA 70 code making panel 15 that is developing new code language and requirements in article 517 which permits Healthcare Microgrids to be used as Essential Power Sources for Health Care Facilities.
