Metin Çakanyildirim is a professor at the School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas (UT-Dallas). His research focuses on decision-making under uncertainty, with applications in energy, supply chain and revenue management. He collaborates with firms across various industries, including energy, rental business, retail, travel, cooling equipment and semiconductors.
Metin was instrumental in establishing the UT Dallas Energy Management Master of Science degree program and served as its academic director. He teaches courses for both this program and the PhD program. Additionally, he has taught executive courses in Dallas, Taiwan, South Korea, Mexico, and China. His academic journey includes degrees from Turkey, Canada and the USA. He has published over fifty refereed research articles and has received awards for early-career research, best teaching case, and best published papers. Metin also serves as a department / area editor for several academic journals and is the area coordinator (department chair) of Operations Management at UT-Dallas.
