Designing Utility-Scale Solar Assets for Military Installations
Description

Georgia Power has been working closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its engineering consultants to design and implement microgrid systems at three military installations. One microgrid is fully constructed and commissioned, with the potential to integrate the utility’s solar resource into islanded operations. The second has completed design and entered the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase, with Georgia Power poised to support detailed design and system integration. The third installation’s microgrid design is actively underway.

This session will delve into the strategic vision, technical architecture, and operational execution behind Georgia Power’s collaboration with the U.S. military on resilient energy systems. Attendees will gain insight into how utility-scale solar assets are being integrated with microgrid infrastructure to support mission-critical operations, and explore key lessons from multi-agency coordination, phased implementation, and evolving utility roles in national energy security.
