Dennis Garrett is a seasoned energy executive with over 30 years of experience driving mission-critical initiatives across power, renewable energy, communications, and civil infrastructure. Known for his ability to lead complex projects in high-stakes environments, he has successfully delivered operational support and infrastructure solutions that advance clean energy and climate resilience. As an entrepreneur, Dennis founded and led multiple ventures, including a $15 million distribution firm, a $20 million crane and equipment company supporting energy infrastructure, and a $10 million clean energy operating services business. His expertise spans upstream gas, utility operations, renewable deployment, geothermal energy, and thermal energy networks. His leadership continues to inspire innovation across the sector. He’s been recognized in the Operations Management textbook by Columbia University’s Professor Martin K. Starr and has designed a hydrogen training course for small businesses. His insights have been featured in Microgrid Knowledge, and he’s served as a speaker and moderator at GRID FWD and Microgrid Think Policy Summits. He is also on the advisory board for the Annual Microgrid Knowledge Conference. Dennis advises a university developing a 3 MW campus microgrid and two cities implementing resiliency hubs. He is a senior advisor to a Southeastern nonprofit building microgrid hubs and supports a firm developing a $1.5B geothermal energy network in Texas. Across his career, he has managed more than $400M in infrastructure projects for clients including ConEdison, NYPA, the Port Authority of NY/NJ, BGE, Delmarva Power, and EQT. A former U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officer and platoon leader, Dennis also held leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies such as CSC, Amtrak, Cintas, and FedEx. He serves on the Board of the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council, chairs its Energy Industry Group, and sits on the board of AHARI, supporting housing for homeless veterans. Other affiliations include the Houston MSDC, American Association of Blacks in Energy, Clean Energy for America, CEBN, The Climate Reality Project, and Public Power New York. Dennis holds a computer science degree from Baltimore City College and studied international business at George Washington University. He is a graduate of the NMSDC AMEP at Kellogg (Northwestern) and the Exelon Foundation Clean Energy Program. He also holds certificates in AI & Machine Learning from MIT and Microgrid Design from ASU.
