CALL FOR SPEAKERS

We seek presentations that demonstrate how microgrids enhance electric reliability, foster energy independence, lower costs and improve energy equity. Proposals are welcome about both grid-tied and remote microgrids. Below is a list of possible topics, but the call is not limited to those. We will consider any session or panel ideas around any part of the microgrid equation.

Microgrid 2024’s sessions will cover:

Customer Education/Microgrids 101

  • Microgrid 101: Why you need one and how they work

  • Minigrids and Nanogrids: What’s different about them and where can they belong?

Digital Optimization Controls and Software

  • How AI can revolutionize Microgrid Controls and Interaction

  • Balancing the DERs in Microgrid systems.

  • Bidirectional possibilities

Financing, Regulatory and Marketing Pathways

  • The Dimensions of Getting Microgrid Projects done: from Technical and Regulatory

  • Compliance challenges to Financing to Commercial Generation and Socially Beneficial Aspects

  • End Goals: How to make Microgrids pay off both environmentally and financially

Generation and Fuels Focus

  • Many facets of On-Site Power: Transmission, Generation and Non-Wires Alternatives

  • CHP Paths to Islandable Power: Campus, Industrial, Public Service, Remote and Military

  • Paths for Hydrogen or other alternative fuels in the Microgrid Resource Mix

  • The purely Renewable and Hybrid Clean Energy Microgrids Now and Future

  • The Role of Energy Storage in the Microgrid Equation

Project Development and Operations

  • Operations and Maintenance: Mechanical to Software and Controls

  • Development, Engineering and Market Challenges

  • The Utility approach to Microgrids: Providing options to Expensive T&D systems

Systems Engineering and Integration

  • Meet the Transportation Electrification Future with EV Charging Microgrids

  • Other Benefits of Microgrids: Demand Response, Energy Efficiency and Research

  • Cross-Sector Connections: How Mission-Critical Infrastructure wants and needs Microgrids

You may bring out these themes by presenting case studies about microgrids that are in planning or operation or by discussing evolving microgrid technologies, government policy, business or community models, electrification, or related concepts and trends. For microgrid companies, your chances of acceptance are higher if you gain a commitment from a customer to appear on stage with you.

All sessions are approximately 55 minutes. Two types of sessions will be offered:

  1. Case study presentations: Three speakers each present 10-minute case studies followed by audience Q&A
  2. Panel discussions: Three to four speakers participate in a moderated panel discussion, which includes audience Q&A

We invite you to share your unique experiences, insights, strategies and techniques at Microgrid 2024 – submit your proposal today.

Proposal deadline: Midnight central time Friday, October 6, 2023.
