Michael is the Managing Director of Resilient Community Solutions, where he collaborates with communities to create energy systems that lower costs, provide resilience, facilitate economic development, reduce emissions, and support the broader electricity grid.
Michael is an expert in blended finance, energy resilience, microgrid development, and community engagement. He has spent extensive time working directly with financial institutions, critical facilities including public and private non-profits and local businesses, philanthropic organizations, and utilities. His work has been featured in The Miami Herald, Scientific American, Fast Company, The Hill, Microgrid Knowledge, and other outlets.
He spent over 7 years at RMI, formerly Rocky Mountain Institute, on a number of teams and projects. His focus areas included microgrid deployment in lower- and middle-income communities in the US and Puerto Rico, leading cohorts of multi-stakeholder teams working to deploy renewable energy projects, and supporting rural electric cooperatives on innovative finance models for their transition to renewable energy. Before starting work on energy resilience, he spent over two years on the Carbon Free Transportation Team, including work on bus electrification, the Mobility Innovation Lab, and fleet electrification.
Before joining RMI, Michael worked with automotive OEMs including BMW, Nissan, and Jaguar Land Rover. He specialized in electric vehicle launches, including the BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf. Michael is fluent in Spanish, and has worked in the US, Puerto Rico, and Latin America.
