Florida’s community health centers are lifelines for millions of patients, many of whom have limited alternatives for care. Yet these centers face growing risks from hurricanes, flooding, extreme heat, and grid unreliability. When the power goes out, the consequences are immediate: refrigerated medicines and vaccines can spoil, IT and telehealth systems go offline, HVAC systems shut down in dangerous weather, and essential equipment becomes unusable. For health centers, resilient energy is not optional—it is mission-critical for patient safety and continuity of care.
This session, facilitated by Direct Relief, will bring together perspectives from a Florida health center representative, project developer, and EPC partner. Together, the panel will explore how solar + battery microgrids can provide health centers with dependable, clean power and long-term resilience.
Audience members will leave with a clear understanding of why microgrids are vital to Florida’s health care system, what challenges and solutions are shaping deployment today, and how partnerships between health centers, developers, and local EPCs can scale resilience statewide.
