Description

A 10-MW microgrid in Denker, California was developed over one year ago. Since then, the partners have gathered important real- world insights into decentralized energy solutions for Class 8 battery electric (BEV) fleets.

The Denker Microgrid fuels up to 96 trucks simultaneously for Maersk’s operations and has proven to be a game- changer in the logistics sector. It offers a viable solution to the growing challenge of grid congestion and lengthy utility interconnect delays. A project of similar scale would take several years to have an interconnection with the grid; however, this project was developed in twelve months and built in five. This presentation will look back on this first year of operation and share lessons learned and the impact for the future of fleet electrification.

This presentation also will share insight into the challenges, successes, and how this model can be replicated to accelerate fleet electrification across the heavy-duty trucking industry.
